It was plenty of trial and error that led them here, plenty of times where Castiel wanted to sink below the bed in shame when just a few knowing touches had him spilling over already. They found a solution to that, although it required rigorous training until he started to accept it and like it. There had been a horrible moment where he thought he was resenting Sam for putting the chastity device on him, until his frustrations cleared, and he could accept the simple fact that he'd only been frustrated with himself and his inability to perform the way he wanted to. The chastity device had allowed him to move beyond that worry.
