"We should ask him. Castiel, would you be happy to sit in Sam's lap?"
Balthazar drops the usual teasing from his voice as he speaks, to make sure Castiel understands that honesty is being asked for here. And Castiel in turn contemplates Sam, then looks up at Balthazar to answer.
"Yes. He looks like he should be holding someone."
Castiel doesn't want to use the words lonely or alone, they imply Sam being unhappy, and he doesn't know him enough to judge that. But Sam looks like someone who should be holding someone else. Castiel wouldn't mind being that person, for now.
And so at Balthazar's nod, he rises to his feet gracefully, stands next to Sam for a moment until Balthazar says 'Sit'. Then he slides into the taller man's lap, naked, all smooth skin and lean limbs. Shifts a little, to tuck himself against Sam's body as if he was made to fit that exact shape and curve.
Balthazar looks pleased. "Well that's a picture I'm already liking."
