Things had been going well lately. Hunts just seemed to fall into their laps, the book Sam needed at the library had just been handed in or just been reshelved, the sheriff or local law looking the other direction when they needed to get to a cemetery for a salt and burn. It had been going really, really well.

It should have occurred to Sam that things were going a little TOO well, honestly. But he didn't even think about it until a knife that should have had his name on it simply ricocheted off his chest, as though he had some forcefield up around him.

Later that night, Sam pulled his overshirt off at the hotel, looking at the spot where the knife had definitely started to pierce the fabric. "Okay. There's definitely something weird going on here."

"Just a bit further?" Teasingly indignant, Gabriel pulls back to sift his fingers through Sam's hair. "If you don't drag me upstairs, or even to the couch for some completely earth-shaking sex right this instant Sam Winchester, I might take it personally."

Or continue to take the initiative to give Sam all the right reasons to do just that.. he was flexible.

Sam hesitated a moment before shaking his head. "You realize I don't exactly have a lot of experience with this, right?"

Not that he hadn't done it with a guy before. It had just been a fairly long time ago.

Gabriel cards his fingers slowly through Sam's hair. "If it helps, it's the first time I've had sex as a human? We don't have to get right to it if you don't want to, kiddo." It's enough that Sam is interested - they can take it slower if they need to.

The hesitation becomes a smile and Sam laughs softly. "I think...slower might be good. The first time, at least. It's not like I've seen you naked before and I'd like to take my time."

Besides, there were a lot of levels of 'sex'. Sam didn't mind that.

Take his time. Oh Gabriel liked the sound of that and he settled in for another kiss. "Well, we do have the rest of the day to ourselves. I think that's a good start, don't you?"

His hands dipped a little lower to just ghost beneath the hem of Sam's tshirt, barely touching warm, bare skin.

Sam shuddered, head tilting back slightly as he groaned. "I think that's a very good start," he agreed, his hands moving to mirror Gabriel's, though his larger hands meant there wasn't so much ghosting as actually sliding beneath Gabriel's hem, thumbs brushing against his skin properly.

"Couch," Gabriel murmured against his neck, the brush of Sam's hand eliciting a shudder. If they were going to spend the afternoon kissing and exploring, they might as well do it someplace more comfortable than a kitchen chair. "Come on."

The couch was large enough for them, and Gabriel all but dragged Sam towards it before pushing him down with a wicked grin. "There. Much better."

Sam laughed, settling back on the couch and looking up at Gabriel. "Usually I'm the one doing the manhandling." Which was true enough. But that didn't mean it wasn't nice to have someone take charge once in a while as well.

"Well that doesn't exactly sound like a complaint, so I'm gonna keep on with the manhandling," he answers with a grin. Gabriel was completely comfortable with taking the initiative, leaning in for another kiss and slipping his hand under Sam's shirt to span his hand across his chest.

"Definitely not a complaint." Sam still pulls him down into his lap, because it's easier to kiss him there. As well as sliding his hands under Gabriel's shirt in retaliation.

Sitting in his lap made things much easier for Gabriel in terms of the right leverage and he leaned back to yank his own shirt off before reaching to slide his hands under Sam's again. This was.. perfect really. A quiet morning, cool and peaceful house, just what they needed to spend time and get to know one another in a more physical aspect.

Gabriel wanted to know what Sam liked, what he wanted, and taking a little time to kiss and touch, listen to the sounds that he made was an ideal way to begin.

Sam couldn't get his shirt off as well, but that was okay because he had a large amount of skin to explore, fingers and hands sliding over Gabriel's back and sides. He leaned in, kissing Gabriel, making a slow exploration of his mouth.

It was different, being touched as a human than as an archangel simply inhabiting a vessel. As a human, he felt everything, every sensation making him shiver and press closer to taste the last bit of coffee on Sam's lips, the salt sweat on his neck. He could do this for days, just committing Sam to memory.

Kissing was good, but Gabriel wanted to feel more of Sam's skin and tugged at the hem of his tshirt, helping him get it up and over his head before flinging it heedlessly behind him.

"There. Much better."

Sam laughed, settling back and wrapping his arms around Gabriel, not paying attention to where the shirt ended up. After all, it wasn't like he was going to need it for a while. He tilted his head, kissing his way from the other man's lips down to his neck, nipping lightly along the tendon there. "Mmm. Agreed. Much, much better."
