"Bees." Sam blinks slowly, then his smile grows. "I have to admit, that I didn't expect. I don't know much about them, myself. Other than the bits that you hear about in the news. Which isn't enough, considering everything that's going on."
Castiel sits up a little more at that, shifting closer to Sam, and Balthazar laughs.
"You've got an interest in bees. This is going to be very interesting."
And indeed, once he gets going, it seems Castiel has a lot to say about bees. He talks to Sam about their current situation, about the aforementioned social structures. About something he's obviously very interested in. It's perhaps a bit bizarre in terms of things to talk to somebody about when you're naked in their lap - but Castiel isn't a very conventional kind of person.
It's easier than Sam thought, really. It's easy to forget the fact that Castiel is naked in his lap when he's so animated and obviously talking about something he knows a lot about. Sam does his best to ask good questions, though every once in a while he says something just to get a flush of anger or indigence on Castiel's cheeks, though his own grin shows that he means nothing by it. Just pushing buttons to get a reaction.
No, Castiel is most definitely NOT just some bauble.
Balthazar has a good feeling about this. Sam has genuine interest, that much is obvious. He's not just humoring Castiel, but actually engaging and encouraging him - and pushing his buttons, which is a delight to Balthazar. He likes to rile Cassie up, too, so he's glad to see a dom finally daring to do the same. Castiel is much tougher than many doms suspect him to be. It's naive to assume a sub would be a shy flower maiden, though. Especially in Castiel's case.
When the conversation tinkers off into comfortable silence again, Balthazar poses his next little trial: "Imagine I'm a stranger, and not Castiel's dom of way too many years... I just realized my age, let's not mention that again. How would you describe him to him? What is your impression of him? What is the reason for you to want him?"
A sub who can't take a little good-natured riling up isn't one that Sam could see himself with. So long as nobody said anything hurtful, at least.
He's pulled out of his thoughts by Balthazar and hums at the question. "Well. He's intelligent. Willful." He looks at Castiel and grins. "A bit of a brat, when he feels like it. Which isn't a bad thing at all. And he has beautiful eyes."
"A bit of a brat. Why, you're being gentle with him. Seems like you're not fooled by his general behavior in the club though, which I like."
Balthazar gestures at his sub with a smirk.
"I consider him the perfect submissive not because he can submit so utterly and perfectly, but because even after all these years, he can still challenge me. You would have your hands full with this one, despite his impeccable training, I assure you. And ah, yes, those eyes... Wonderful, aren't they?"
"Anybody who can't see beyond his behavior in the club isn't looking very hard." And, obviously, never actually tried to have a conversation with Castiel. Which Sam wishes he could find surprising, but so many people in the club just aren't interested in seeing beyond the masks.
"One of his best features, his eyes. Not that the body is bad, of course, and I'm sure he knows it. But the eyes are startling." Sam smiles widely. "And I don't mind a challenge. In fact, I look forward to challenges. It's why I've gone into law."
They usually aren't. Both Balthazar and Castiel know that. It's part of their game, part of their scene. Giving Castiel the ability to be cold, empty perfection for Balthazar to ruin and reassemble.
"You don't know bliss unless you're all the way down his throat and have him hold eye contact, truth be told."
It's not a lie. Balthazar has rarely experienced anything that hot, and he's had plenty of orgies in the past.
Sam glances up for a moment, raising an eyebrow. "I think that's going to take some work," he admits after a moment. "Even my ex-girlfriend could never manage all of it and she had a lot of practice."
Jess was never a sub, though, and they'd clashed too much in their lives for the relationship to work out. But he does still care about her a lot.
