When I'm all alone, I reach for you/And you bring me home
For a while after Gabriel was awoken, the battle against the Fallen turned in favor of the Hunters. The Fallen hadn't been expecting it, after all, thinking all the Daughters and Sons had faded away. That, along with the fact that the town that surrounded Gabriel's temple had now become a sanctuary for Hunters meant that the Fallen had been taken by surprise.
For a time.
Eventually, though, the Fallen seemed to learn that there were only two Sons who had awakened and that their powers were still limited. Whether they had realized that Castiel and Gabriel really only appeared around Dean and Sam, Sam didn't know, but it certainly hadn't stopped the Fallen from attacking the brothers. Though they only called upon the Sons in the most dire of circumstances as both were still regaining their power.
Finally, though, all four had agreed that something needed to be done.
Which is why Sam pulls up his horse before the gates of the great City, looking up at the walls built and worked with the power of the Sons and Daughters from long ago to protect the inhabitants from the Fallen and the dark creatures that lived in the wilds. Gabriel rides pillion behind him, body warm against Sam's back and arms around his sides. No doubt the Son could have made it to the City on his own just fine, but he's reserving power for the moment.
Sam looks back to the group of Hunters that are following him. He knows that Dean and Castiel and other Hunters are coming into the City on the other side, since they don't want to make people nervous about a large number of Hunters in the City, but if this works, they want the extra Hunters close.
He drops his hand to Gabriel's on his stomach, giving it a squeeze. "You ready to go into the City?"

He drops his hand to Gabriel's on his stomach, giving it a squeeze. "You ready to go into the City?"

Sam was right though. He and Castiel couldn't hold back the Fallen alone. They needed the City and they needed to call more of the Sons and Daughters back from their sleep.
That doesn't ease his worry as he rides with Sam, arms wrapped around his waist and cheek pressed against his back.
"I haven't seen these gates since they were made."
Will the residents accept him or damn him? Gabriel doesn't know. But Sam is right, they have to make a stand and they have to do it together. The first step is reviving the temple. Rekindling faith.
no subject
Sam squeezes Gabriel's hand, smiling slightly. "I'd like to hear the story of that sometime. The walls have been here for as long as I can remember, after all."
He kicks his horse forward, stopping again when confronted by the City guard. Who look upon the motley group with suspicion. Sam raises his hand from Gabriel's hands. "Don't worry, we're just passing through. There's no danger, just resupplying." Which was why Sam wanted a few smaller groups of Hunters rather than one large group. It made it more plausible and would arouse less worry than all of them going in at once. A group of Hunters this large would be needed for a massive infestation. But resupply was possible. More than.
The guards look at one another for a moment before they let the Hunters in. And Sam breathes a sigh of relief as he waves his own group forward, hoping that Dean is having as easy a time.
no subject
He's wearing a simple cloak, enough to cover his traditional robes and grant them access to the city without causing a stir. The guard gives him the barest of glances before admitting them past the walls.
"They don't seem entirely pleased to see you," he murmurs against his shoulder. "Makes me wonder how pleased they'll be to see the candles of the temple lit again."
no subject
And their group is only seven strong, same with Dean's group, including the Sons. A third group would arrive through another gate soon enough, before there was time for rumor to spread. "Candles are often lit in the Temples, though. I shouldn't be surprised if we find some lit when we arrive. Some haven't forgotten the ways, after all. But so many at once will draw onlookers." Which might not be a bad thing. The more people there, the more people who could witness the Temple coming back to life.
Or so Sam hopes. The love and worship between Sam and Gabriel had reignited a temple and grove, but a small one. The Hunters they brought with tonight are all believers, having seen what Castiel and Gabriel can do. Sam only hopes that they are all enough.
"With luck, we will help to provide the City guards with more defense for the City as well."

Gabriel holds his breath as they approach the Temple itself. Quiet and still, a place that once rang with laughter, with song, and with the sounds of love on the altar. But Sam was right - he could make out a few candles in the nave, signs of those who kept to their faith.
"We may have to use the altar this time," he squeezes his Hunter briefly before sliding off the horse and walking up the few wide steps that led inside. Home. This would become his new home. "It's too cold, too quiet."
A smile for Sam. "We will have to change that."
no subject
He follows suit as Gabriel dismounts, dropping his reins to ground tether his horse. The rest of the Hunters do the same, moving to follow Gabriel and Sam up the steps. "I'm only using the alter if Dean's in another room, you know." Having sex in the open with Gabriel is one thing. Having it with his brother watching is another completely. "I know there's a grove in the Temple complex, though it's smaller than the one back home."
This may become Gabriel's home, but Hunters would never be as accepted in the City. But, then, Gabriel does have wings and can come to wherever Sam is. He doesn't worry about it.
no subject
The grove may be the better option for them anyway, but they have time to decide. The Hunters are able to secure the temple and begin the preparations. Weapons are set aside for blessing later and incense and candles are lit throughout. Behind the alter, Gabriel kneels, resting his hands on the worn stone and closing his eyes.
Every Temple was sanctified in love and blessed with a healing spring and the main Temple was no exception. But as the power of the Sons and Daughters waned, the clear water of the spring faded until it was little more than a small pool covered with floating leaves. But with the attention and care of an attending Son, the water level began to rise, bubbling up from the ground and spilling over his hands.
The Hunters murmur as the spring rises and Gabriel laughs again, beckoning them forward. "Drink, all of you. Drink and know that you have not been forgotten in your fight against the Dark." A smile for his Hunter in particular. "You are loved and you will be protected."
no subject
It isn't long before the other groups arrive. Sam heads to the doors to greet Dean and Castiel, along with the other Hunters they brought with them, as well as the third group that arrived in the City. "We're still preparing, but Gabriel has the spring flowing once more."
no subject
Dean greets his brother with a hug, taking in the warm light, the babbling of the spring and murmur of Hunters. "Good. We didn't have any trouble getting into the City. Cas is out in the grove, seeing what he can do there before we get started." He's.. not exactly looking forward to the public sex, but if it will help raise more Sons and Daughters, then that's what he'll do.
no subject
He looks to Gabriel before turning back to his brother. "We just need to wait for Bobby's group to arrive, then we'll be settling in until the City sleeps. It's probably going to be a cold meal." Because they couldn't chance a fire. "Once the horses are sorted out, we'll get back to clearing the Temple. And send a few of the younger Hunters out to help Castiel in the grove."
no subject
"No cold meals tonight, Sam. Tonight Castiel and I will raise a suitable feast for the faithful gathered here. Warm food, fresh breads and wine. Blessings from the Mother and Father as we begin to clear the Temple and ready it for what comes next." A feast to share in companionship, returning to work to clear the Temple and finally the bonded Hunters and their Sons would worship together and summon more power, calling the sleeping spirits awake to those who still believed.
no subject
He turns to his brother. "Gabriel's already revived the spring and has asked us all to drink from it. After the ride, I don't doubt you're all thirsty as well." And the spring would restore them all for the time being. Until there's time for food and proper rest.
no subject
Dean gives his brother a nod, clapping him on the shoulder. Only Sam would be steadfast enough in his faith to summon one of the first Sons. He was an odd creature, but complimented his brother perfectly. "Yeah, yeah that sounds like a good plan Sam. We can all drink and ready for whatever feast Gabriel and Cas can cook up."
no subject
"Just remember, we do have our own stores as well. Ask for them if they'll make your task easier." Since they have a lot to do tonight.
Sounds outside make Sam raise his head, then he smiles. "And there's Bobby's group." The older hunter would be staying out of the Temple when it came time. Which is something Sam's thankful of. All of this is difficult enough without their father figure watching. But Bobby and Ellen have a good, strong marriage, so Bobby's mostly there to keep an eye on things outside. And get the rest of the younger Hunters into the City.
no subject
With the help of Castiel, the Hunters will find themselves treated to an abundant feast. Tables heavily laden with bread and fruit, cheese and wine, olives and fish. The combined effort leaves the Sons a bit tired and they simply sit at the table, basking in the warm happiness of the faithful around them. The Mother and Father have not forgotten them, and they are there as a living reminder of the love they have for all.
Not a bad start to the night, really.
no subject
He doesn't mind, though. Especially as he knows that Dean does the same, just not willing to do so in front of so many.
From there, it's time for the stories, though it's not just Gabriel and Castiel telling them. It goes around the circle, many of them repeating stories of hunts that they've been on, stories from childhood. Happy stories, because that is what the night is to be about, bringing joy and love back to the Temple.
no subject
Finally as the meal winds down, the Hunters begin to clear away the rest of the food, carefully packing it away for morning. It was time to prepare for the rites and there was a definite shift in the mood - quiet and eager anticipation as the union of two Hunters and their Sons could raise enough power to bring more back from the mist.
no subject
Neither will be without watchers, since that's part of the point of this. And the Hunters need to be where the Sons and Daughters can find them most easily. So that could be in either place, drawn toward those who are raising power in this sacred place.
Really, it's a good thing that the Sons can get their Hunters hard with a little expenditure of power. Otherwise, things could get a little embarrassing.
no subject
"You take the grove Sammy. You said that Gabriel lived near one, chances are he can draw up more power out there."
Leaving him to have sex on the altar. Okay. He can do this.
no subject
Sam takes a similar look around and nods, offering his hand to his brother. "I guess we'll see each other in a couple of hours." Because, yeah, Sam's not going to be moving from the grove until he's ready to let Gabriel go. And he knows from the few times that they've raised power this way that that's going to be a good while. Especially since, with any luck, there's going to be a lot of power raised tonight.
Once they part ways, Sam goes to pick up a small pack that he'd brought with him, sliding his arm around Gabriel's shoulders. "The grove okay with you, then?"
no subject
Gabriel looks up at his Hunter with a pleased smile. "More than okay." Already he can feel the power beginning to rise in the temple, a low and steady thrum that would begin to draw in the others soon enough. "Come on, I think they've got everything ready out here."
no subject
Unfolding it will reveal an altar cloth, the symbols embroidered on them the same as they could either remember or could research. It wasn't perfect, maybe, but the care and love was obvious in every thread.
no subject
He raises up to press a gentle kiss to the corner of his mouth. "It's perfect Sam. Completely perfect."
Taking his hand, Gabriel leads him out into the grove where there are candles and two cups, one with water from the spring and one with sanctified oil for the rite itself. "Just remember to keep your focus on me," he murmurs. "No one else."
no subject
Sam licks his lips as they get into place, running his thumb over the back of Gabriel's hand before nodding. "Yeah, okay." It's not going to be easy, at least not at first. But he'll do his best.
no subject
"My love," he murmurs, leaning to kiss him softly. "Through our union we will call back so many of the lost, restoring light to the world. Undress me Sam, and I will help you."
no subject
Gabriel taking his hands refocuses Sam, turning toward him as his lodestone. He bends, stroking his thumbs over Gabriel's fingers before placing a kiss on the back of each hand, only then letting go so that he can start undoing Gabriel's belt. They're both wearing the same amount of clothing, something that Sam had calculated before they'd arrived. No armor between them tonight. Just a few scraps of fabric that can be pushed out of the way.
no subject
"Lay with me in the grove Sam." It only takes a faint twist of power to remind Sam's body that it's supposed to be aroused instead of nervous, and Gabriel gently draws him down onto the cloth prepared by the Hunters, spread in the cool grass for them.
no subject
He follows Gabriel easily, moving to kneel on the cloth, leaning forward to press a kiss to Gabriel's stomach and another to his chest with a smile. "Mmm. Is this the part where we get to draw all over each other?"
There were specific meanings to the words that they were meant to inscribe with oil on each other's skin. But that didn't mean that Sam wasn't above a little bit of teasing his bonded.
no subject
The sacred oils were within reach and he kisses the tip of his nose, his eyes sparkling with delight. "Yes, love. This is where we get to draw all over one another before I take you into me."
no subject
no subject
Because Sam wasn't the only one who could tease his bonded beloved.
The smiles turn into warm sounds of encouragement as Sam dips his fingers in the oil and begins to inscribe the sacred words on his skin. Marking him again as Sam's and only his. By the time his work is completed the oil is glowing faintly and Gabriel is panting. Magic fueled with love and desire and he can't wait to feel Sam sink into him and cement that bond all over again.
no subject
And they're only half finished. Sam pulls back with a smile as he settles back. "I think that means it's your turn."
no subject
"My beloved," he murmurs against his lips, straddling Sam's hips. "Tonight we wake the others with the power of our love and our faith. As you called me from the mist, now we call the others. Hunters are ready and awaiting the Sons and Daughters, those who have not forgotten the old ways."
no subject
Even the reminder that they weren't alone didn't make anything difficult, caught up in the power that they were building together.
"Then let us call them, beloved," he says softly in return. "Let us bring them home and to the arms of those who will loved them, those they have been destined to find through all these ages."
no subject
Another lingering kiss and Gabriel raises up to slowly lower himself down on Sam's body. The sigils they had drawn in sacred oil began to flare brighter, lighting up the grove in shades of bronze and gold, a miniature sunrise flickering among the trees.
no subject
Gabriel's is the gold, the same color that the Son's eyes turn in sunlight. The bronze is his color, a duller and more muted color, perhaps, but one that compliments the gold perfectly. Just as Castiel and Dean compliment each other.
He slides his hands over Gabriel's hips, groaning as he pushes up to meet his love part way. "I will never, ever tire of the way you feel against me," Sam murmurs, looking up at Gabriel with bright, adoring eyes.
no subject
Gabriel laughs, bending to kiss Sam as he pushes down, groaning into the kiss as Sam fills him completely. "And neither will I, my love."
The grove continues to fill with bright golden and bronze light as the temple itself begins to fill with starlight - cool silvers and blues as the two Sons begin to intertwine their power and channel it into the very foundation of the building, lighting it up like a beacon.
no subject
His hand finally settled over Gabriel's heart, looking up to lock his gaze with his Son. His partner and lover and the other half of his soul. And began to murmur a prayer to the Sons and Daughters that those who had come to them for centuries had spoken, imploring their help and blessings as a Hunter.
no subject
His hands drift down over Sam's arms and shoulders before moving in the air between them, drawing on the power he'd been created with, turning them into a beacon. Son and Hunter. Forever intertwined, brought together by the ancient love of the Mother and Father and between them, they could call the others back. Show them that there was still light in the world, that there were still those who believed.
Gabriel's eyes flash golden as the power builds in him and he begins to rock a little faster against Sam. Gathering all the power he has to give the fading Sons and Daughters enough power to return.
no subject
His ears, though, catch the voices of other Hunters around them. The ones in the grove with them each intoning the prayer that Sam had spoken only moments before. He waits for them to finish before he begins speaking again, adding his voice to theirs and pulling their belief and hope into the spell that Gabriel works.
no subject
It's going to break over them all like a tidal wave, spilling over the entirety of the Temple when they both fall. Gabriel can sense the others stirring, vague impressions of Daughters and Sons taking hold and waiting for the completion of the spell to pull them forward and into the world again.
no subject
He reaches down, sliding his hand over Gabriel's cock, thumb brushing over the head. "Fuck, Gabe...I'm close." Too close, maybe. He needs to hold on until the right moment, but the amount of power around them keeps pushing him closer to the edge. Not to mention the heat of Gabriel's body around his.
no subject
Gabriel speeds up his pace, riding his beloved towards the crest and as his orgasm hits and he comes across Sam's chest the spell peaks, washing the entire temple in brilliant light, turning it into a beacon for all those who were once lost.
Laughter. It's the first sound that comes back to him as he raises himself off Sam's chest, shaky after weaving such powerful magic. Laughter of Sons and Daughters finding their Hunters. Faith rewarded with love. He turns his face towards Sam's neck, laughing softly. "We did it. Sam we did it."
no subject
Sam huffs a surprised laugh, sliding his hands up to slip into Gabriel's hair. He can't see most of the Hunters from where he's laying, but he can hear enough to know that most o the others are definitely feeling as good as he does at the moment.
But, then, he remembers how it felt to find the one he was meant for, too.
"We did it," he murmurs in agreement, sliding his fingers through Gabriel's hair. And grinning because, damn it, they'd done it.
